Obverse description The Bavarian royal coat of arms occupies the center of the field, consisting of a quartered shield displaying the characteristic blue and white lozengy pattern of Bavaria alongside the Palatine lion, surmounted by a royal crown with cross finial. The shield is presented without a surrounding legend, with the entire design rendered in bold relief against a plain field. The crowned arms are depicted in a straightforward heraldic style typical of early nineteenth-century Bavarian coinage.

Reverse description The numeral '2' appears prominently in the upper field, followed beneath by the denomination legend 'PFENNING' in large serif capital letters arranged horizontally across the center of the coin. The date '1823.' is inscribed in the lower field, separated from the denomination by a plain line, with a period following the date. The design is simple and utilitarian, with all elements in raised relief against a plain field, characteristic of Bavarian copper coinage of the period.
