| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the rampant white horse of Hanover, a classic heraldic charge rendered in relief against a horizontally lined field. The escutcheon is surmounted by a royal crown with raised arches and jewelled band. The circular Latin legend reading KÖN. HANNOVER. SCHEIDE-MÜNZE runs along the periphery, identifying the piece as a Hanoverian subsidiary coinage (Scheidemünze). The overall design is executed in a restrained neoclassical style consistent with early nineteenth-century German state coinage. |
