| Obverse description | Ornate interlaced royal cypher 'PFA' (for Paul Friedrich August) in script lettering, surmounted by a princely crown, all set within a plain field. The circular legend reads 'OLDENBURG BIRKENFELD', divided on either side of the crowned monogram. The design is elegant and characteristic of mid-19th century German minting practice. |
