Obverse description The obverse displays the crowned coat of arms of the Kingdom of Bavaria, featuring the quartered shield with the characteristic Bavarian lozengy pattern and the Rhenish Palatinate lion, surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is flanked on either side by an elaborate wreath of oak branches with acorns, tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The design fills the field in a bold, classical style with fine relief details. The coin border is defined by a toothed or milled rim. No peripheral legend is present on this side.

Reverse description The reverse features a plain, unadorned field bearing the denomination and date in three bold lines of serif capital lettering: the numeral '2' at the top, 'PFENNIGE' in the center, and '1842' at the base. The lettering is large and well-spaced, occupying the majority of the field in a clean, minimalist typographic arrangement. No additional devices, symbols, or legends accompany the inscription. The coin is bordered by a toothed rim consistent with the obverse.
