Obverse description Central shield bearing the quartered Saxon arms — alternating horizontal barry and diagonal rautenkranz (rue crown) bands — surmounted by a royal crown. The legend 'K.S.S.M.' (Königlich Sächsische Staats-Münze) is inscribed in the field, divided to either side of the crowned shield. The coin's border is defined by a fine beaded rim.
