Obverse description Central field bears the elaborately interlaced crowned royal cypher of King Ernest Augustus, composed of the letters E, A, and R (Ernestus Augustus Rex) rendered in a foliate cursive script. The monogram is surmounted by a royal crown and flanked at the base by symmetrical foliate scroll ornaments. No peripheral legend appears; the design fills the field in a purely typographic and heraldic style characteristic of early 19th-century German states coinage.
