Obverse description Tri-lobed trefoil arrangement of heraldic shields within a decorative foliate border. The uppermost shield bears the arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg (divided field with cross), flanked by the bishop's personal arms of Michael von Kuenburg in the lower two lobes. The date 1556 is inscribed in Gothic numerals along the lower margin of the field. The overall composition is characteristic of late-medieval Austrian ecclesiastical coinage executed in the hammered klippe technique.
