Obverse description Central device features a stylized oak sapling with five lobed leaves rising from a short horizontal ground line, rendered in high relief against a flat field. The circumferential legend BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND curves along the upper and lower periphery, interrupted at the base by the date 1966 flanked by two raised dots. The design, engraved by Adolf Jäger, is executed in a clean, modernist style characteristic of early Federal Republic coinage.
