| Additional information |
Anton Schlüter's Freising firm, better known for agricultural diesel engines, issued notgeld tokens during the acute small-change shortages that gripped Germany in the early 1920s. Private industrial employers frequently produced their own coinage substitutes at this period to pay workers in fractional amounts when reichsmark coin simply wasn't available at the counter. The Schlüter series is catalogued in Menzel under two distinct reference numbers, suggesting at least one die or issue variant exists within the type.
