Beneath the numeral, the denomination legend PFENNING is inscribed in bold capital letters across the centre of the field. The date 1805 appears in the lower portion of the reverse in widely spaced numerals. The overall design is simple and legible, characteristic of late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century German municipal copper coinage. |
