Brandenburg-Ansbach spent much of 1757 in an acutely precarious position: the Seven Years' War had pushed Prussian forces across the region, and Margrave Alexander — nominally allied with Prussia through family ties to the Hohenzollern — found his treasury strained and his minting activity curtailed. Small copper issues from this year are poorly documented in surviving mint records, and the Wilmersdörffer reference remains the more reliable attribution source for this type than Krause.
