| Reverse description | The reverse features a left-facing depiction of the Pampas deer (Ozotoceros bezoarticus), a medium-sized deer endemic to the temperate plains of South America, known locally in Uruguay as venado de las pampas. The denomination 2$ appears in the upper field, accompanied by the FAO motto FAT PANIS below it. The species name VENADO DE LAS PAMPAS is inscribed as a legend across the lower portion of the field, with the country name URUGUAY at the bottom. |

Uruguay introduced polymer coinage in 2021 partly to reduce per-unit production costs and extend circulation life — plastic blanks outlast cupro-nickel by a significant margin in high-turnover denominations. The 2 Pesos had already seen multiple compositional changes across its long history before this shift.
The Mercosur branding ties this issue to the 30th anniversary of the trade bloc's founding treaty, signed in Asunción in 1991.
