| Obverse description | Printed in black on cream paper with a green guilloche underprint, the obverse carries at left an oval vignette with a portrait of a bearded gentleman in formal attire, and at right a circular vignette of a lion above the motto 'PAZ Y JUSTICIA'. The central field presents a large ornate numeral '2' within a guilloche panel flanked by the repeated legend 'DOS 2 DOS' above the denomination 'DOS PESOS FUERTES'. The upper register bears the full bank title beneath 'REPÚBLICA DEL PARAGUAY', with the promise-to-pay clause 'PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR Y Á LA VISTA' and the issue date 'ASUNCIÓN, 26 DE DICIEMBRE DE 1889' at foot. |
