| Obverse description | The upper portion is divided between the denomination DOS PESOS in large letterpress type at the left and a manuscript serial number at the right, with the Imperial Coat of Arms of the Mexican Empire centered between them. Below the central vignette, a letterpress text block carries the empire's pledge to pay two pesos in accordance with the Decree of 20 December 1822, dated Mexico, 1 January 1823, with three handwritten manuscript signatures beneath. The left and right margins are enclosed by a geometric ornamental border bearing the repeated inscription DOS PESOS. |
