Additional information

Oaxaca's 1915 obsidional coinage was produced under General Isaac Rojas on the authority of the Soberanía de Oaxaca, which had declared itself a sovereign state rather than submit to Carrancista federal authority. The series was cast and struck locally under genuinely improvised conditions, and the silver content varies measurably across examples — the nominal .902 fineness reflects intent more than consistent execution.

The small gold fraction is characteristic of the alloy sourced from regional deposits rather than a deliberate monetary specification.
