Rocafort de Vallbona is a small municipality in the comarca of l'Urgell, Lleida province. During the Spanish Civil War, the Generalitat de Catalunya authorized local councils throughout Republican-held territory to issue their own emergency small-change notes — the result of a chronic coin shortage that worsened sharply after 1936. Hundreds of Catalan municipalities took up the offer, and most contracted whatever local printer was nearest. Here, that was Imprenta A. Figueres in Tàrrega, roughly five kilometres away, which produced notes for several surrounding villages during the same period.
Turró catalogues this as #2180 — a high reference number that reflects just how many of these municipal emissions existed, not any particular rarity within the series.
