Reverse description The reverse displays the quartered arms of Spain — combining the castles of Castile, the lions of León, the pale stripes of Aragon, and the chains of Navarre — surmounted by a mural crown. Flanking the shield are the two Pillars of Hercules, each bearing a ribbon inscribed PLUS ULTRA (Beyond Further), symbolising Spain's imperial heritage. The denomination 2 PESETAS is boldly inscribed in the lower field, while the upper legend states the metrical standard: 100 PIEZAS EN KILOGRAMO (100 pieces per kilogram). The mint mark and assayer's initials appear discreetly at the base of the right pillar.
