La Selva del Camp is a small municipality in the Camp de Tarragona comarca, and like hundreds of Catalan towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency paper currency when the Republic's central supply of small-denomination coinage effectively collapsed. The Generalitat de Catalunya had authorized local authorities to fill the vacuum, producing a wave of highly localized issues — most printed in tiny quantities and rarely leaving the immediate community.
Turró catalogues this issue but survival rates for La Selva del Camp notes are low. Small-town wartime currency typically circulated hard and was discarded once the war ended.
