La Pobla de Montornès is a small municipality in the Camp de Tarragona, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency after the Republic's coin supply collapsed. These local paper emissions — known collectively as paper moneda de curs forçós — were authorized under a 1936 Generalitat decree that effectively deputized municipal councils as temporary monetary authorities.
Imprenta Solé in Tarragona handled a significant volume of these local issues across the province, which means production quality is relatively consistent across the Turró catalog entries from this printer. Small-town issues from this region are frequently found with handling wear but rarely with serious damage — they circulated hard in tight local economies for the duration of the conflict.
