Albuñol is a small municipality in Granada province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, it printed its own emergency fractional currency when Republican-zone coinage virtually disappeared from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply gone. The Consejo Municipal issues of 1937 were a local fix for a national problem: the Republic could not supply small change fast enough, so town halls filled the gap themselves.

The Gari Montllor reference places this squarely within the documented Andalusian municipal series. An official stamp serves as the primary authentication device — typical for these improvised emissions, where printing resources were minimal and legitimacy rested on bureaucratic rubber rather than engraved security features.
