Albaladejo is a small municipality in the province of Ciudad Real, Castile-La Mancha. Like hundreds of Spanish towns, its local council issued emergency paper fractional currency during the Civil War (1936–39) when Republican-zone coinage vanished from circulation almost entirely — hoarded, melted, or simply not minted. These consejo municipal notes filled the gap at the hyperlocal level, often printed in tiny quantities on whatever press was available in town.
