Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of Queen Victoria facing left, depicting the young or 'first portrait' by William Wyon, with hair drawn up and arranged in a chignon at the nape of the neck. The finely modelled bust is truncated at the shoulder and set within a plain field. A continuous Latin legend encircles the effigy reading VICTORIA D:G: BRITANNIAR: REGINA F:D:, separated by stops, and bordered by a uniform dentillated rim.
