Reverse description A large, bold numeral '2' in high relief occupies the central field, surmounted by a royal crown and flanked symmetrically by a laurel and oak wreath tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The four-digit date is divided by the central numeral, with the first two digits to the left and the last two to the right, a distinctive feature of British Maundy coinage design established by Jean Baptiste Merlen. The overall composition is crisp and finely struck, consistent with the prooflike quality typical of Royal Mint Maundy issues.
