Reverse description The reverse features a segment of the Royal Shield of Arms as designed by Matthew Dent, presenting a bold lion rampant guardant set within a decorated shield frame rendered on a finely cross-hatched ground. The shield border is ornamented with fleurs-de-lis at the corners and along the edges, reflecting the heraldic tradition of the Royal Arms. The denomination TWO PENCE is inscribed in a curved legend along the upper field above the shield. The engraver's initials MD appear discreetly to the lower right of the shield border.
