Obverse description Right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, rendered in the second portrait style by Arnold Machin, occupying the central field. The Queen wears a tiara and is depicted with characteristic curled hair. The circumferential legend reads QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND in raised Latin characters, arcing around the upper portion of the coin. A finely beaded border frames the entire design.

Reverse description A Upland Goose (Magellan Goose, Chloephaga picta leucoptera), the Falkland Islands endemic subspecies, depicted in flight facing left with wings fully extended. The denomination numeral 2 appears above the bird in the upper field, while the inscriptions FALKLAND ISLANDS and the date are arranged around the lower periphery. The designer's initials WG appear in the field. A beaded border encircles the entire reverse design.
