Gibraltar's coronation issues occupy an odd constitutional niche — the territory issues its own coinage under royal prerogative but is neither part of the UK nor the EU, giving the Gibraltar Mint latitude to produce commemorative denominations that the Royal Mint itself would not strike. Charles III's coronation on 6 May 2023 prompted a wave of such issues across British Overseas Territories, Gibraltar among the quickest to market.
