| Obverse description | Central device depicting a Chinthe, the mythical Burmese guardian lion-dragon, shown in profile facing left in a rampant posture, with elaborately rendered mane, scaled body, and clawed feet rendered in fine relief. The creature's head is raised with open mouth, and its tail curls upward along the body in a stylized decorative manner. The figure occupies the full field of the square flan, with no legend or border inscription. The overall design reflects traditional Burmese artistic convention used on the coinage of the early Union of Burma. |
