Obverse description Garuda, the mythical bird-deity of Khmer tradition, depicted in full figure facing left in a dynamic standing posture, with wings partially spread and taloned feet visible. The creature is rendered in relief with considerable detail, showing its characteristic avian head, humanoid torso adorned with decorative garments, and outstretched arms. The design occupies the central field and is contained within a border of large, evenly spaced denticles encircling the entire coin.

Reverse description Three lines of Khmer script legend arranged across the central field, presenting the denomination and royal authority of King Norodom I. Flanking the upper line of script are small circular ornaments or pellets positioned symmetrically in the field. A crescent-shaped device appears above the uppermost line of text, and the inscription is executed in bold raised Khmer characters. The reverse field is otherwise plain, without a border of denticles.
