Reverse description Central field features a large double-headed Imperial eagle displayed, each head crowned, with wings spread, representing the Holy Roman Emperor Matthias. A small escutcheon bearing the Imperial orb is placed on the eagle's breast. The surrounding circular Latin legend names Matthias as ever-august Emperor of the Romans. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, as is characteristic of hammered silver coinage of the early seventeenth century, with portions of the legend partially off-flan.
