Montenegro's government fled to Bordeaux in early 1916 following the Austrian occupation, but trial pieces for a proposed bronze coinage were being prepared in 1915 as the military situation collapsed. Whether these ever reached formal approval before the country ceased to function as an independent state is unclear. The KM#Pn2 designation confirms pattern status — this piece never entered circulation, and Montenegro would not exist as a sovereign entity again until 2006.
