Part of Israel's ongoing Wildlife of the Holy Land series, this issue pairs the common nightingale (*Luscinia megarhynchos*) with the fig — both carrying deep roots in biblical literature and in the ecological reality of the Levant. The Bank of Israel has issued silver naturalist coins in this format since the 1990s, typically timed to coincide with Jewish holidays for the gift market, which drives most of their collector demand.
