| Obverse description | Cast cash-type coin bearing the four-character inscription 常平通寶 (Sangpyeong Tongbo) arranged in the traditional cross reading: 常 (top) and 平 (bottom) read vertically, 通 (right) and 寶 (left) read horizontally around the central square hole. The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) within a plain raised rim. The field is flat and unadorned, consistent with standard Joseon-period cast coinage. |
