Reading top to bottom: 常平 (Sangpyeong), denoting the Sangpyeong Department (Joseon Treasury); reading right to left: 通寶 (Tongbo), meaning 'circulating treasure' or currency. The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) style typical of Joseon cast coinage, set within a plain field enclosed by a raised outer rim. |
