The "14th Print" designation in this series reflects the Casa da Moeda's practice of distinguishing successive print runs by numbered impressões — a necessary bureaucratic formality given how many times these low-denomination notes had to be reprinted to meet demand. By the early 1920s, Brazil's paper currency was under sustained pressure from post–World War I inflation and the coffee economy's volatility, which accelerated the turnover of circulating notes.
The 2 Mil Réis denomination sat at a genuinely workaday level of commerce, meaning high circulation and correspondingly heavy wear. Finding a crisp survivor from this specific print is harder than the note's apparent ordinariness would suggest.
