| Obverse description | Crowned and armored bust of Emperor Charles V facing right, rendered in low relief characteristic of hammered copper coinage. The emperor is depicted wearing an imperial crown and draped armor, with the portrait occupying the central field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading CA · D · G · V · ROM · IMP · HISP · REX · 55, abbreviating his full imperial and royal titles along with the date 1555. The strike is irregular, as is typical of mid-sixteenth-century Low Countries copper issues, with uneven flan edges visible around the periphery. |
