Obverse description Central field features the Arabic Hijri date 1321 inscribed in Western numerals beneath an ornate Arabic tughra-style monogram of Sultan Abd al-Aziz. The design is enclosed within a double circular border composed of an intricate geometric meander or key-fret pattern, giving the coin a distinctly decorative character typical of late Sharifian coinage struck at the Paris Mint.
