Reverse description The arms of the German Empire displayed as a spread-winged imperial eagle facing left, with head turned to its right, surmounted by an ornate imperial crown. The eagle bears on its breast an escutcheon charged with the Hohenzollern arms, encircled by the collar of the Order of the Black Eagle and flanked by decorative oak leaf sprays. The circumferential legend DEUTSCHES REICH arcs across the upper field with the date 1901 at right, while the denomination ZWEI MARK appears in the lower field, flanked by two small six-pointed stars. A beaded border frames the entire design.
