Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of Grand Duke Carl Alexander of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach in left-facing profile, rendered with fine portrait detail including naturalistic hair treatment. The truncation of the bust is cleanly cut. The circumferential legend reads CARL ALEXANDER GROSSHERZOG V. SACHSEN, running from the lower left around the upper field. The mint mark 'A' appears below the bust at the bottom of the field. The design is enclosed within a finely executed inner beaded border.
