Obverse description Central field bears the crowned royal cypher of Frederik III, composed of an interlaced script 'F' and '3', executed in an elaborate calligraphic style and surmounted by a closed royal crown. The monogram occupies the majority of the flan, rendered in high relief with graceful scrollwork terminals. The entire central device is enclosed within a plain inner circle bordered by a beaded ring. The peripheral legend reads counterclockwise in Latin: * DOMINVS * PROVIDEBIT *, meaning 'The Lord will provide', separated by pellet stops.
