Obverse description Central vignette of a grazing donkey in the act of defecating coins, a humorous allusion to the fairy tale of the golden donkey (Der Goldesel). A four-line satirical verse in Paderborn dialect is printed beneath the vignette, mocking those who purchase emergency paper money. The full transfer order text of the Stadtsparkasse Paderborn, the denomination, date, and issuing magistrate's legend surround the central design, with the printer's imprint at the lower margin.

Large numeral '2' panels with acanthus scroll ornaments flank the central scene on both sides, with the place name 'ESELGASSE' at lower left and 'PADERBORN' at lower right.
