| Obverse description | Central field displays a quartered heraldic shield surmounted by a crowned helmet, incorporating the arms of Brandenburg-Prussia and associated territories. The multi-partite shield bears various devices including a rampant lion, an eagle displayed, a sceptre, and a chevron, rendered in the bold, somewhat crude style characteristic of mid-seventeenth-century hammered coinage. The shield is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the peripheral Latin legend running continuously around the outer margin. The die work reflects typical workshop practice of the period, with moderate relief and irregular flan shape. |
