Obverse description Centered mitred episcopal hat (mitre) with the initial 'A' of Abbot Arnold flanked by the divided date — '16' to the left and the final two digits to the right — the mitre breaking through the inner circle. A lily appears below the mitre in the field. The surrounding Latin legend is interrupted by the mitre and reads 'D G EL ET CON ABB COR', denoting the abbot's title by the grace of God, elect and confirmed abbot of Corvey.

Reverse description The denomination expressed in three lines within the inner circle, incorporating the mintmaster's mark; the Roman numeral 'II' at the top breaks through the inner circle and interrupts the surrounding legend. A rosette ornament appears within the legend at the top of the design. The arrangement follows standard small-denomination German ecclesiastical coinage conventions of the mid-seventeenth century.
