Reverse description A detailed architectural rendering of the Main Gate of Mdina (Il-Bieb Ta' L-Imdina), the ancient walled capital of Malta, dominates the central field. The Baroque gateway, constructed in 1724, is depicted in full frontal elevation showing its rusticated stonework, flanking pilasters, carved ornamentation, and central arched passageway. The Maltese pound denomination symbol £M appears to the lower left and the numeral 2 to the lower right of the gate, with the word SPECIMEN inscribed vertically at right. The legend IL-BIEB TA'L-IMDINA curves along the upper rim, and the date 1973 is placed in the lower exergue.
