Obverse description At centre, an intaglio portrait of Marco Aurelio Soto (1846–1908), President of Honduras 1876–1883, is identified by the inscription 'MARCO AURELIO SOTO REFORMADOR DE LA REPUBLICA 1876'. The Escudo Nacional appears to the left against a multicolour guilloche underprint, with denomination numerals '2' in the upper corners and the full national title legend across the upper register.

Reverse description At right, a large intaglio vignette presents a panoramic view of Isla del Tigre and the port town of Amapala, with the volcanic cone rising above the waterfront and vessels in the foreground. To the left, an elaborate guilloche panel frames the large denomination numeral '2' in a geometric lathe-work design, enclosed by fine guilloche borders at each margin. A yellow optically variable ink (OVI) element appears above the central vignette, and the printer's imprint 'OBERTHUR FIDUCIAIRE' is present at lower right.
