Reverse description The reverse field displays a multi-line Arabic inscription arranged in three registers separated by two horizontal ruling lines, consistent with the standard layout of Maldivian lari coinage of the mid-eighteenth century. The central register contains the AH date ١١٧٣ (AH 1173, corresponding to AD 1760), rendered in bold raised Eastern Arabic numerals. The lower register carries additional Arabic text, and the overall design is struck on an irregular, roughly circular billon flan typical of the hammered technique employed at the Maldivian mint.
