Pattern coinage from the Royal Danish Mint rarely surfaces in trade, and this 1984 type IIIb represents one of several competing design trials produced before the revised 2 Krone series was finalized. The Roman numeral classification system used internally by the mint to distinguish trial types means collector documentation depends heavily on the few examples that have escaped institutional holdings.
