Obverse description Central device of a heraldic shield bearing a seated polar bear in relief, flanked on either side by mining tools — a hammer and pick on the left, a spade and pickaxe on the right — with a winged miner's helmet as a crest above the shield. The legend IVIGTUT • KRYOLITHBRUD arcs along the upper rim, while the exergue bears the initials HGN, date 1922, and mintmaster's initials GJ.
