| Obverse description | Central field displays a crowned imperial eagle with displayed wings, the body rendered in the late Gothic hammered style typical of early sixteenth-century Habsburg coinage. A quartered shield is superimposed on the eagle's breast, bearing the arms of the Holy Roman Empire and the Habsburg hereditary lands. A Latin legend reading MAXIMILIANVS D G ROM IMP encircles the design, identifying the issuer as Maximilian I, by the grace of God, Roman Emperor. The date 1513 appears in the lower portion of the field. The coin exhibits characteristic irregular flan shape and uneven strike consistent with contemporary hammered production. |
