Reverse description Within a beaded circular border, a crowned Imperial double-headed eagle is depicted at center, with the numeral denoting the denomination displayed on the eagle's breast. The surrounding abbreviated Latin legend reads MAXI II ROMA IMP P DE, referencing Emperor Maximilian II as Roman Emperor. The design follows the standard Imperial eagle type employed on contemporary South German and Alsatian municipal coinage of the 1560s–1570s, struck on a square klippe planchet by the hammered method.
