Obverse description A rampant bear, the heraldic emblem of St. Gallen, faces left in high relief at the center of the field, its raised forepaw and clawed feet rendered with bold detail. The figure is set within an inner circle formed by a plain line, with a denticulated border surrounding the entire design. The denomination numeral '2' and the abbreviation 'K' flank a small central ornament at the base of the coin, indicating the 2 Kreuzer value. The circumferential Latin legend MON:NOVA:S:GALLENSIS arcs around the upper and lower portions of the obverse, identifying this as a new coinage of St. Gallen.
